2016 Favourites

In 2016 there were a lot of products I used again and again. Here are a few of my 2016 favourite products.

Spectrum Brushes:
During 2016 I bought quite a few Spectrum Brushes. They are not too expensive, they are very pretty looking, they are very soft and they don’t malt. The brushes are vegan and cruelty registered. I first heard of Spectrum Brushes on Twitter, I noticed a lot of beauty bloggers were using them and recommending them. I also saw celebrities were starting to review and advertise them. I bought my first set in the sale and I couldn’t stop using them. Recently my collection has grown and I now understand why they are always selling out. You can visit Spectrum brushes at: https://www.spectrumcollections.com/

MUA Highlighter:
I am obsessed with highlighters and I think it has to be my favourite make up product to apply. My friend recommended the MUA highlighter to me this year. It is only £3.00, is very pigmented and comes in a lovely pink or white shade. I highly recommend this highlighter because it is great value for money. http://www.superdrug.com/MUA/MUA-Undress-Your-Skin-Highlighting-Powder—Pink-Shimmer/p/633150

MAC Lipstick (Persistence):
I think everyone knows how much I love my MAC lipsticks! A shade I used a lot last year was ‘Persistence’. This is a matte shade and is a nude lipstick. This shade goes with a lot of make up looks and it is quite subtle.

Lazy Days Zoella Candle:
I love candles. I always have to light a candle whilst I am chilling in my room. When I heard that Zoella was bringing out a range of candles I was really excited. My boyfriend bought me ‘Lazy Days’ for our lazy Sundays. It is a calming scent and quite fresh. They are £10.00 from Superdrug.

Instax Mini 8:
I have had my Polaroid for a few years now and I still love it. The film is quite expensive but the Polaroid does capture the cute memories.

NYX Liquid Lipsticks:
NYX came to my local boots store this year so I have been trying a few of their products. I have tried their liquid lipsticks and they are amazing! They stay on for a really long time, they have lots of different shades and they are only £6.50. They are light on the lips which is great because some liquid lipsticks are very thick.

MAC Air of Style:
I have never tried MAC perfume before but I love MAC Air of Style. It is quite a fruity scent and it stays on for a while. It’s a little pricey for just 30ml, but the smell is gorgeous!

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray:
Urban Decay setting spray is the best setting spray you can buy in my opinion. I just couldn’t believe how long my make up stayed on for – especially after a night out. It is about £22 but I do believe it is worth if. I bought mine from Debenhams!

Sleek I Divine Palette Enchanted Forest:
I have bought from Sleek a highlighter, eyebrow and contour kit but I have never purchased their eyeshadow until last year. I loved the shades in this pallete and they blended nicely. The eyeshadow is pigmented and stays on. I love how I can pop this small pallete into my bag or take it on holiday. I bought mine from Boots: http://www.boots.com/en/Sleek-I-Divine-palette-Enchanted-Forest_1744236/

iPhone 6s:
Another thing I loved last year was my new iPhone 6S. I had the iPhone 5s before which I had for 3 years. It had been dropped a few times, was a little bit scratched, the silent button had broke and the screen didn’t always work. I bought my iPhone 6S in a rose gold because I thought it was so pretty. It is a lot better than my old phone, bigger screen, quicker and the camera is higher quality.

There were some great new films which came out last  year. Finding Dory had to be my favourite, new 2016 film. The otters were SO CUTE! If you have watched Finding Dory you will know exactly what I am talking about. My boyfriend bought me baby Finding Dory because she is just adorable. I watched Big Hero 6 for the first time last year and I think it is my all time favourite disney film. It is quite emotional but I think everyone needs a Baymax in their life…and I now have one.

So they are just a few of my favourites from 2016. Please let me know what yours were! I’d love to discover some new products.

January Favourites

Hello lovelies,

I can’t believe it is February. That means I have officially completed dry January! My friends, family and boyfriend all thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. But I didn’t have a single drop of alcohol and I didn’t even miss it.

I had quite a few beauty products in January that I just couldn’t get enough of!

Urban Decay – Smoky Palette

My all time favourite during January was my Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette. I have started doing my eye make up quite dark lately and this palette has some gorgeous shades. I use the shades password, whiskey, combust and thirteen for a more natural look. I find the shades high, dirtysweet and radar go really well together. The dark colours in the middle of the palette create the perfect smoky eye. Overall Urban Decay hasn’t failed to dissapoint me. These colours are gorgeous and very different to their other Naked palettes. I also love the brush that comes with this eye shadow palette as I find it is great for blending.

Clinique – Even Better foundation

At the start of January I bought my first ever designer foundation. I have only ever used drugstore foundations however I thought I would treat myself and get my skin matched. The lovely lady within Debenhams, Clinique found the perfect colour for me. I have used this foundation everyday. The foundation costs £25 and I do really think it is worth the money as it has great coverage. It is great if you are buying your first designer foundation!

MAC – Copperplate Matte Eyeshadow

For Christmas I got bought this gorgeous MAC eye shadow. This is now my second MAC eye shadow and I can honestly say it is so good! I don’t have any similar colours to this and it is so pigmented. MAC eye shadows can be a little pricey as they about £13 and it is only a small tub; they do last ages though!

Urban Decay – All Nighter

This is my life saver! I always used to borrow Amy’s before a night out and it actually kept my make up on! It is so good and really worth the money. I used to get scared and think it would make my make up run when I sprayed it, but it doesn’t aha!

Yves Saint Laurent – Concealer

I have needed a designer concealer for a while now and this is definitely worth the money. It has amazing coverage and it stays on for the whole day. I love the packaging as well!

Yves Saint Laurent – 206

My first every YSL lipstick! I am in love with this colour. This lipstick is so lush and stays on for such a long time. Also the packaging is gorgeous. Perfect for winter.

MAC Lipstick – D for Dangerous

I can never ever not like MAC lipsticks, there will always be one in my favourites! I have a thing for matte lipsticks at the moment and this colour is so pretty.

NARS – Contour Blush

This was a lovely Christmas treat! The colours are gorgeous and it is very pigmented. It is a little pricey though as it is about £30. However it has great coverage and the product lasts ages.

Real Techniques – Flat Contour Brush

This brush is from the Real Techniques bold metals collection. I love the colour of this brush, it is a beautiful rose gold. I love how it has such a long handle as well because I find it easier to apply my make up with. The bristles are very soft and gentle on the skin as well.

Have you used any of these products before? Comment links to your favourites below as I would love to read all about them.

How to get clean make up brushes

Hello lovelies,

So it’s that time again…preparing for exams. My exams are just in a few weeks! So I have been revising, getting last bits of coursework done and just exam prep. I have an ICT exam, Media exam and a 12 hour practical textiles exam. Oh the joys are being an A level student!

So I am very sorry for not being able to write a blog post for a while! I am going to try and upload a new blog post every Wednesday around afternoon time. Then if I have time (hopefully) I will be posting another one during the week. So look out for a new blog post every Wednesday and a surprise one in the week.

Today I am going to show you how I clean my makeup brushes and what with. It is something we all have to admit to not doing enough (well I know I do). But once you clean your brushes you feel like your make up looks so much better on your skin.

I use the Mac brush cleanser for just £10.00. I buy mine from Debenhams! So first I damp my makeup brushes and use warm water. I then pour a little bit of the mac brush cleanser onto the brush (I work with one brush at a time). I then work through the brush with my fingers, pushing all the makeup out of the brush. I keep adding a little bit of warm water and adding more brush cleanser to keep rinsing the makeup out. I then towel dry the brush handle and the brush very gently and leave it on the side to dry. I work through all my brushes and then leave the rest of them on the side also. I find the foundation brush is a lot harder to get clean than the others so I always start with that one first. It doesn’t take too long for them to dry, but ensure they are fully dry before using them to apply your make up.

Are there any tips you guys use for cleaning make up brushes?

I have recently just bought Love Tanya so I will write a book review when I have finished it! Oh I forgot to mention…TANYA BURR FAVOURITED MY TWEET. Tanya Burr is my role model and I really look up to her. She is close to 3 million subscribers so I tweeted her and she favourited it. I was so happy I cried! I have waited for her to notice me for a very long time. I couldn’t believe it. You can see the screenshot below.

I hope you are all okay and enjoyed my blog post.

My everyday make up routine!

So I haven’t done a beauty post for a while and I haven’t shared with you yet what my every day make-up look is. So I thought this would be a perfect beauty blog post to do today!

First I use my Rimmel fix and perfect primer. When I got this it was on offer, you received it for free if you bought any Rimmel foundation therefore I thought I would try it. I apply this all over my face before I apply any make up by just using my fingers.

Then I apply my Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in the colour 103 True Ivory. I apply my foundation with my Real Techniques expert face brush in a ‘circle’ motion to ensure I blend in all my foundation. I pump a bit of my foundation onto my left hand first and then dab my brush into it and if I need any more foundation I would pump a little bit more.

Once I have applied all my foundation I then choose what shade of eye shadow I want. Most days I choose a shade from my Naked 2 palette and my most popular shades at the moment are tease, snakebite and suspect. I apply my eye shadow with my Real techniques starter set brushes; the deluxe crease brush and the base shadow brush. I prefer these brushes to the urban decay brush as I find that they blend easier.

I then apply liquid eyeliner, sometimes I do it quite thick or sometimes thin, and this all depends on how dark my eye shadow is. For my liquid eyeliner I use The collection extreme 24 hour felt tip liner. This is my most used eyeliner at the moment because it has a fine point to it, it’s really dark and it also lasts ages.

I then apply my benefit they’re real mascara. I love this mascara so much as it makes my eyelashes look so much longer and stays on for a long time.

I then use my Benefit brow zings set for my eyebrows. I find this set amazing! It makes my eyebrows look super natural even though I fill them in. I use the soft wax to put them into shape and then use the powder to fill in any gaps. I always fill in my eyebrows after I have used eye shadow and foundation because you don’t want glitter in them or foundation.

Once I have done all my make up, I powder. I use the Rimmel stay matte powder in the colour peach glow. I powder with my Real techniques powder brush. It is really important to powder as it sets your foundation and gives your skin a less shiny look. I highly recommend the powder brush as it amazing!

For the finishing touch I either use lip balm if my lips are in a really bad condition. I have been using EOS a lot lately and sometimes blistex. However mainly I apply lipstick, my favourite lipstick at the moment is my mac lipstick in the colour La Vie En Rouge.

So that is my everyday make up routine, I hope you like it. Comment below to let me know your make up routine or if you have any products you would recommend. Thank you all for following me and for reading my blog posts.

Lipstick obsessed!

beauty.jpgHey guys!

I really need to start writing more blog posts but I have just been so busy because of college and work. I thought I’d write about my lipstick/lip balm collection because it is slowly growing. Whenever I am going out I always have to wear some lipstick or if my lips are getting dry I have to wear lip balm. The picture above is not of my full collection but it is just a few I had with me at the time and picked out.

My lip balm that I use a lot is my blistex raspberry lemonade blast. It smells gorgeous and tastes quite nice too aha! It keeps my lips from becoming dry and I apply it before I go to sleep, when I wake up and before I go out.

I also love Tanya Burr’s lip gloss ‘vampire kiss’, it doesn’t have any glitter in which I love because I don’t like lip glosses that contain glitter and it is very affordable as well. It is the perfect gloss for a night out with friends.

My NARS lipstick ‘fire down below’ is one of my favourites! I wrote a blog post about it not long ago which you can read at https://inspiredelegance.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/new-beauty-products/ and find out more about this lipstick.

My Mac lipsticks will never fail to disappoint either. I have 3 and they are the ones I use constantly. I have rebel, amorous and la vie en rouge. I would not be able to pick a favourite out of them because I just love them all.

Well there is a bit about my lipstick collection! What are your favourite lipsticks? I’ll hopefully be doing another blog post this week.
